Learn about all of Yale Outdoors' Adventures
Throughout the semester, Yale Outdoors members embark on a variety of outdoors trips. Weekend trips include day hikes, overnight camping, kayaking trips, sunset/sunrise trips, weekend backpacking, night hikes, and more!
Weekend trips are organized by our Weekend Coordinators (We-Co). Upcoming trips are shared on our newsletter alongside information on how to sign up and join. To suggest trip destinations and ask questions contact our We-Cos Nate (nathaniel.huang@yale.edu) and Justin (justin.leahy@yale.edu).
During Fall, Winter, and Spring Break, Yale Outdoors members embark on backpacking trips organized by our Expedition Coordinators (Ex-Co).
Students are asked to apply to go on break trips due to high demand. We hope to make these trips as accessible as possible, allowing students from all backgrounds to participate. Students selected will be primarily responsible for personal transportation to the destination while we organize group food, campground fees, park communications, and onsite logistics. Participants are usually asked to pay a small fee, however, Yale Outdoors is able to waive this fee for those who cannot pay it.
To suggest trip destinations and ask questions contact our Ex-Cos Ezra (ezra.skerlecz@yale.edu) and Riley (riley.kennard@yale.edu).
Fall break trips are usually the shortest break trips and take place at destinations closer to campus. Groups will usually set off from campus together.
Past trips have taken place in the Green Mountains, White Mountains, along the Appalachian Trail, Acadia National Park, and more!
Winter break offers trips to destinations farther from campus and are usually the longest trips during the academic year. They often take place in warmer locations due to the colder weather.
Past trips have taken place in Santa Cruz Island in the Channel Islands, the Grand Canyon, and more!
Spring break offers a similar structure to winter break trips going to destinations farther from campus allowing for further reach due to warming weather.
Past trips have taken place in Big Sur, Shenandoah, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and more!
