About the Seminar:
Blue carbon (the carbon stored and sequestered in coastal ecosystems) has gained rapid interest as a natural climate solution. However, making the most of blue carbon requires us to get the scale right - both the scale at where blue carbon is cycled, and the scale at which it can make a meaningful contribution to climate change mitigation. Here, we will synthesise some of our multidisciplinary blue carbon research across different spatial scales: from site-scale measurements of mangrove blue carbon stocks and fluxes, to landscape-scale remote sensing, to assisting countries with national scale assessments of blue carbon potential, to global modelling of blue carbon dynamics and the potential for blue carbon conservation and restoration.

About the Series:
Over the last twelve years, the Yale School of the Environment has held a weekly seminar series, called BIOMES, which has been the School’s flagship forum for bringing cutting-edge research and impactful work to the community.
BIOMES stands for ‘Bridging Issues & Optimizing Methods in Environmental Studies”

The series is a community-sourced and student-led effort designed to bring different perspectives to YSE’s main stage.
