Asian American Cultural Center

The Asian American Cultural Center (AACC)

Established in 1981, The Asian American Cultural Center (AACC) exists to build and sustain a supportive Asian and Asian American Community at Tale. Our Central purpose is to enrich studetn life while providing a physical space to blend academic inquiry with cultural experience, promoting explorations of the social and political experience of Asians and Asian American in the United States. The Center fosters support for Asian American Studies and the creation of academic and intellectual programming that invites students and our broader constiuents to engage with the field and support emerging scholarship. The AACC hosts programs and activities that bring together undergraduate and graduate/professional students, alumni, faculty and staff to share in these common goals.

The Center is an accessible, common meeting place for a variety of Asian and Asian American student groups and community organizations. Equipped with a lounge, kitchen, multipurpose room, karaoke equipment, conference room, game room, library and art exhibition gallery, students are encouraged to use the Center for studying, meetings, events or just to hangout. Seen as a second home for our students, the AACC is committed to heritage and traditions, to build pan-Asian unity and to create an atmosphere that nurtures the personal, intellectual, and leadership development of our students.

Nearly 60 student groups (undergraduate and graduate) are affiliated with our Center. Together with these organizations, the staff and Peer Liaisons of the AACC host a series of programs; annual leadership retreats; holiday celebrations; dinner conversations on a variety of topics including identity, mental health, and activism; fields trips and group outings to museums and cultural institutions; a PL-Led NYC outing for first years; film screenings; alumni panels; performances featuring Asian American artists, writers, comedians, activists and other professionals; end-of-year and graduation celebrations; and a variety of other programs.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, seventeen Peer Liaisons (PL) will be working out of the Asian American Cultural center to provide mentoring for incoming first years, coordinate first year programs for the AACC and work collaboratively wit the residential colleges in supporting the need of our first years students.
