Peyton Meyer

Co-director

Peyton (he/him) is a junior in TD majoring in Environmental Studies and participating in Yale's Energy Studies Program. He is passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health on campus and has worked towards this through helping to run the Bandana Project initiative with YSMHA. A main goal he has for the coming year is to advocate for an increase in the availability and quality of mental health resources for Yale students. To benefit his own mental health Peyton enjoys learning to play his ukulele and cross country skiing / just staying active.

Shruti Parthasarathy

Co-director

Shruti (she/her) is a junior in MC majoring in Cognitive Science and pursuing the Global Health Studies MAP & Education Studies Certificate. She is really excited to collaborate with her peers and help foster a sense of inclusivity and mindfulness on-campus! She is also the student representative of Yale College on the Yale Well Committee, and serves as a Yale Well Mentor to help support and advise Student Wellness Grant winners in bringing their projects to life. At the Feinberg School of Medicine, Shruti has been researching a psychosocial analysis of interdisciplinary mindfulness practices and its adaptations for specific pediatric populations. She is very passionate in helping address mental health disparities through her healthcare startup Mindful Kala, which aims to empower teens through easily-accessible intercultural education, support, and mind-body movement based in her favorite activity - Indian Classical Dance!

Ben Swinchoski

Research & Policy Co-Chair

Ben (he/him) is a second-semester sophomore from Wall, New Jersey in Benjamin Franklin College. He will most likely major in neuroscience, but is up for a conversation about pretty much anything. Outside of studying, you might find Ben tooting on his clarinet in the Yale Concert Band, crushing the competition in Mario Kart, or trying his best on the foosball tables in the Franklin buttery. Ben is super excited to work on advocating for positive changes to Yale's mental health services and policies.

Miriam Kopyto

Research & Policy Co-Chair

Miriam (she/her) is a senior in JE majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. She is passionate about arranging inclusive programming for Yale Students focusing on Mental Health. In addition to her role in YSMHA, Miriam sings a capella with Magevet, volunteers at hospice, and conducts immunology research at the Yale Medical School.

Gabriella Gutierrez

Senior Adviser

Gabriella (she/her) is a senior in ES majoring in Psychology. She is passionate about addressing the rising prevalence of mental health issues in student populations, as well as normalizing the discussion of mental health on campus. Through her work with YSMHA, she hopes to provide more accessible mental health resources and education to the Yale and outside communities, while further addressing the stigma surrounding mental health. Alongside her work in mental health, she enjoys spending her time conducting neurosurgery research, drawing, and playing tennis.

Orah Massihesraelian

Campus Initiatives Chair

Orah (she/her) is a sophomore in JE with a presently undecided major. She believes in the importance of destigmatizing mental health, encouraging student conversations, and improving mental health services and their accesibility on-campus. Orah currently serves as YSMHA's Campus Initiatives Chair as she works towards these goals with other YSMHA members. In her free time, Orah enjoys climbing with the Yale Climbing Team, writing, drawing, and cold water from the dining hall.

Karen Ayoub

Community Service and Outreach Chair

Karen (she/her) is a sophomore in ES majoring in Psychology. She is passionate about mental health and wellness, supporting neurodivergent children, and ensuring that we are incorporating strategies for children from all backgrounds. Currently, she serves on the board as the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator for Yale Student Mental Health Association (YSMHA), acting as a liaison between YSMHA and outside communities and schools. In addition to her role in YSMHA, she enjoys singing with the Cadence of Yale a cappella group and has worked on course development for the psychology of well-being and other topics.

Katie Simic

Social Media and Marketing Manager

Katie (she/her) is a senior in BF majoring in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and pursuing a language certificate in Italian. She is passionate about spreading awareness for mental health on college campuses and planning events like the YSMHA Mind Over Matter Fair where Yalies can learn more about the resources available to them and how they can get involved in creating better mental health policies on campus. To de-stress, Katie likes to watch cooking shows and Snackpass boba with her friends.
