Considerations for Our Guests

Across campus and in our buildings, Yale has spaces available to guests during commencement for activities that may require accommodations.

Prayer Spaces

We have two prayer spaces available at YSE. One is located in Sage Hall in room 8, the second is located at 380 Edwards Street, room 202.  Signs will direct you to these rooms. Spaces will be first-come, first-served.

Yale Chaplin's Office provides a list of prayer and meditation spaces across campus as well, more information here.

Lactation Spaces

For those wanting a private lactation space, please visit Sage Hall. Signs will direct you to the room. This space will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For a list of current lactation rooms available across campus, refer here. Locations and reservation information is included.

Please note that the process and/or contact for reserving space varies depending on the location. In some cases, rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Accessibility at the YSE Diploma Ceremony

The YSE Diploma Ceremony is being held in the Kline Tower Courtyard this year, which is accessible without stairs. From Prospect Street, there is a ramp leading all the way to the tent area. Under the tent there will be an area reserved for accessible seating. Additionally, this courtyard has numerous benches, chairs, and picnic tables, most of which are accessible as well. For guests wishing to watch the ceremony via Livestream from Burke Auditorium in Kroon Hall, there is an elevator which can be used.

Accessibility at Old Campus

An accessible seating section off of High Street will be available on Old Campus for guests with tickets. Assistive Listening Devices are also available for guests attending ceremonies on Old Campus.

For more information, please visit the Accessibility section of Yale's Commencement website.
