Berkeley Divinity School Orientation

A community within Yale Divinity School, Berkeley students are formed by the centrality of daily worship, deliberate attention to the spiritual life, and a concentrated course of study in Anglican history and theology.

New BDS students should expect further information on their orientation to come from Berkeley staff shortly. Changes to the below schedule may occur.

BDS Orientation Overview

Monday August 31 | 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM | Berkeley Center, 363 Saint Ronan Street

All events are at the Berkeley Center which is located at 363 St. Ronan Street, a short block away from Yale Divinity School’s Sterling Divinity Quadrangle.

    Morning Prayer at St. Luke's Chapel

    8:00 - 8:30 AM

    Please join us for worship in the Anglican tradition. Berkeley Divinity School services are open to all, and you are warmly invited to attend. Coffee will be served directly after the service.

    BDS New Student Orientation

    9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

    Berkeley Divinity School at Yale will host an orientation session led by the Berkeley deans for incoming students interested in learning more about Berkeley’s Program in Anglican Studies. The session will cover the school’s worship schedule, academic curriculum, community life, as well as the Educational Leadership & Ministry (ELM) Program and the Annand Program for Spiritual Formation. There will be an opportunity to meet other members of Berkeley staff, as well as time for questions and conversation. Breakfast will be available and the BDS orientation ends with lunch at 1:00 PM. Please plan to return after an afternoon break.

    Reception for Incoming Students and Family

    4:00 PM

    Incoming students and their families are invited to the Berkeley Center for a light reception before the Community Eucharist Service at St. Luke’s Chapel.

    Community Eucharist

    5:00 PM

    We warmly invite incoming students, their families, and all who are interested to join us for a service of Holy Communion

    Dinner for BDS Community

    6:00 PM

    Following the Community Eucharist service, members of the community are invited to a BBQ style dinner with lawn games for an evening of fun and fellowship. Student leaders in our community will also be introduced.

All BDS orientation events are held at the Berkeley Center, 363 Saint Ronan Street.

Berkeley Morning Prayer @BTFO

Every morning, Berkeley offer morning prayer in the Anglican tradition. Any member of the YDS community is welcome to attend.

Morning prayer during BTFO is 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. and occurs every day when classes are in session at 7:30 a.m.

Additionally post-BTFO, Berkeley offer a Wednesday night Eucharist at Marquand Chapel, followed by fellowship at Berkeley Center, a 2 minute walk away from the YDS campus. Compline services are also often held. More information can be found on the Berkeley Yale Connect Group later in the semester.
