Welcome, everybody, to the YDS community! My name is Megan Ruppel, and I will be the International Peer Guide this year for BTFO. Originally from Seattle, WA, a city in the Pacific Northwest corner of the US, I am not an international student myself, but I have been an international student (and been through the visa application process) in several other countries, including in Europe and in Asia.
Most recently I completed a master's in Paris, France, and moved back last summer to start at YDS. So I sympathize with the difficulty of your upcoming move! To support you all as the International Peer Guide, I combine that firsthand experience abroad with my lifelong experience of US culture, including US institutions like Yale. In short, I hope to be a bridge between the worlds you already know, and the world you're coming here to get to know.
I am also holding Zoom office hours throughout the summer, if you want to connect one-on-one and just talk through what to expect from life at YDS. You can book a time here; if none of the times listed works with your schedule or time zone, just email me and we'll figure something out.
Looking forward to meeting you all!
