Mission
As an umbrella organization we seek to unite the dance groups on campus, bring together the New Haven and Yale dance community and to work for more administrative support for dance on campus. We believe that there should be maximum cooperation within the campus dance community and that as the dance community grows it is important for us to work with the administration to accommodate their needs of rehearsal and performance space.



The Alliance for Dance at Yale is an umbrella organization which seeks to unite the dance groups on campus, bring together the New Haven and Yale dance community and to work for more administrative support for dance on campus. We book rehearsal space at Payne Whitney Gym for all undergraduate dance groups, and we host the Festival of Dance Groups during Opening Days for freshman. The Alliance automatically includes all members of dance groups on campus and is led by a board of directors who are elected by the larger membership each year. This board consists of 5 positions all of which may be held by 1 or 2 people: executive director publicity director treasurer outreach coordinator secretary Additionally a representative from each dance group who wishes to participate in ADAY activities will serve as a direct liason to the board and help in the planning and production of ADAY events. As an umbrella organization we seek to unite the dance groups on campus, bring together the New Haven and Yale dance community and to work for more administrative support for dance on campus. There are no membership requirements, though people wishing to hold office within ADAY must be currently enrolled undergraduates. Elections are held yearly in January. Interested candidate submit a candidate statement to the Alliance and are elected by majority vote.

Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Yale was founded in the fall of 1998 by a group of undergraduate students dedicated to the expression of Mexican culture and traditional folk dance. Since its founding, the group has had the privilege of performing at numerous cultural and educational events at Yale, throughout Connecticut, and elsewhere in the Northeast. As the only Mexican folk dance group on campus, Ballet Folklórico does not hold auditions. Our goals are both diverse and ambitious: while providing an outlet for the exploration of our heritage, we seek to enrich students' cultural knowledge, and serve as a resource for greater Connecticut communities as well.

Casa de Bailes is an educational dance community at Yale dedicated to teaching various Latine music genres for social dancing. Our goal is to introduce these styles to non-dancers and those interested in Latine social dancing, offering opportunities they may not have had before. Through our “Dance History Archive" project, we provide resources on Latine music, dance examples, and music history for public learning. As a non-performance group, we emphasize creating inclusive spaces that foster community and welcome everyone. We host beginner-friendly workshops and socials (social dance opportunities), allowing students to learn, practice, and enjoy these dances in a comfortable environment. Our aim is to celebrate Latine culture and build a community characterized by love, trust, and belonging among Yale students of all dance backgrounds and experiences through Latine dance.

The ConBio SIG at YSE is a dynamic community of graduate students from diverse academic backgrounds who share a common passion for conservation of wildlife and natural spaces. The goal of the ConBio SIG is to provide students with a space to come together to share personal experiences and insights about conservation biology. We encourage participation from all specializations and collaborate across disciplines!

The ConBio SIG fosters a supportive environment that fosters academic growth through guest lectures and workshops as well as professional and social development through quarterly socials with conservation and research professionals. Events are shaped by member interest and goals for the academic year.

The Opera Theatre of Yale College (OTYC) is the undergraduate opera company at Yale University. Organize joint events with Somali student groups at other universities and local Somali community organizations to foster connections and build a larger network of support and collaboration(Will try to attend annual Somali Night at University of Minnesota that aims to highlight the artistic talents within the Somali community by bringing singers, dancers, poets, actors, and fashion designers from the Somali diaspora together to showcase the diverse talents within the community). Host fundraising events, such as dinners or community gatherings, where attendees pay a fee to support relief efforts for Somalia, which is currently facing alternating drought and extreme flooding - Host regular meetings, social events, and cultural celebrations to create a sense of belonging and strengthen connections among Somali students at Yale -Organize events, such as Somali cultural nights, guest speaker panels, or film screenings, to share and celebrate Somali culture with the broader Yale community

Step is an African American dance form developed first by South African miners as an alternative to drumming, a previously banned activity. There is a vibrant step dance tradition in the South, but in the Northeast many people have never even heard of it. Steppin' Out aims to share this great history and culture with the Yale community, both by making the otherwise unknown style visible in the first place and by celebrating the diversity of our membership.

Undergraduate Production (UP) was established in 2000 to ensure safe practices in the planning, production, and presentation of undergraduate performing arts events. Over the subsequent years, Yale College's performing arts culture has grown to encompass over 400 events, 2,500 students, and 30,000 audience experiences annually.

Yale University has a vast and vibrant performing arts culture. Within this rich environment, UP works exclusively with Yale undergraduates to ensure that their work gets the attention and support it needs. UP provides training and technical support for comedy, dance, music, opera, spoken word, theater, and interdisciplinary performance genres. We work on everything from large-scale projects, such as operas featuring dozens of cast members and musicians, to informal poetry slams.

Regardless of scope and scale, all student productions must be planned and developed in a manner that ensures the safety of the production team and the audience. UP exists to fulfill this mandate as we support both the artistic vision and the highest level of safety for each undergraduate production.
