The American Red Cross at Yale seeks to serve as a local community service organization at Yale and in New Haven, providing aid on a more regional scale than its parent organization. We serve as an intermediary between the students and faculty of Yale University and the American Red Cross. We host blood drives on the Yale campus, recruiting Yale graduate and undergraduate students as well as the broader community to donate blood and fulfill the Red Cross's local blood needs.

The mission of our program is to relieve the stress and anxiety of patients through arts and crafts at the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Yale New Haven Hospital. Volunteers in the program engage patients in the waiting room and patient rooms with arts and crafts. By facilitating art creation with patients, we help them express themselves and process/cope with the hospital experience in a creative way.

We are a student organization dedicated to inaugurating an empowering, educational, and preparatory environment for students across the African diaspora interested in pursuing a health-related profession. We incorporate the various branches of health and create an atmosphere that encourages critical conversation, community engagement, and a humanistic approach to medicine. Because of the historical oppression of Black populations in healthcare at large, we hope to increase the numbers of prepared Black leaders and healers in health advocacy and clinical settings.

Community Health Educators (CHE) is a student-led organization dedicated to promoting health on campus and in the greater New Haven community. We implement an annual health education program in several New Haven public schools with the hopes of empowering students to make informed decisions about their health and fostering conversations around topics that are traditionally stigmatized. Our curriculum consists of interactive workshops delivered through a peer-to-peer model. We also coordinate other wellness-oriented events to engage with relevant issues in public heath.

HAPPY is a Yale University student organization committed to providing regular hypertension screening services, linking hypertensive patients with available care, and eliminating barriers to follow-up care for chronic hypertension, for the low-income and homeless populations around New Haven, CT. We engage student volunteers and leaders in active volunteerism, educational outreach, research, publications, fundraising, and other innovative projects to achieve highest quality of our services and maximize our service impact. We envision creating a successful model at Yale and New Haven and replication our model of success in other universities across the country by establishing a national non-profit organization.

Our organization's main mission is to provide accessible and comprehensible pamphlets and/or brochures on physical and mental health necessities, targeting refugee populations in New Haven. Our organization also hopes to raise awareness on the mental and physical health of refugees on Yale's campus. The topics that will be discussed on these pamphlets and/or brochures include, but are not limited to, dental hygiene, women's hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.

YMPO is an undergraduate program dedicated to broadening the horizons of Yale students interested in medicine. Members have opportunities to learn about medicine directly from professionals by shadowing physician-mentors in their work environments. Students can also learn about health-related issues through various lectures, panel discussions, and events held throughout the year. Event topics include medically-related volunteer opportunities, conversations with admissions officers from various medical schools and physicians from a wide range of specialties, and local and international outreach work. Additionally, we understand the importance of teamwork and mentorship in fostering a community of future doctors and leaders in medicine by holding an annual mentoring program that connects Yale undergraduate students with Yale medical students.

Planned Parenthood Student-Advocates at Yale (PP@Y) is a dedicated undergraduate organization that passionately advocates for reproductive rights on Yale’s campus, throughout the New Haven community, and across Connecticut. Grounded in the equitable vision of reproductive freedom championed by Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, the mission of PP@Y is twofold: to facilitate volunteering and interning at Planned Parenthood, and to actively engage in advocacy efforts for reproductive rights across our communities. Planned Parenthood Student-Advocates at Yale seeks to foster a culture of inclusivity, education, and empowerment in order to push for access to sexual and reproductive healthcare. Through partnership with Planned Parenthood of Southern New England, PP@Y will provide Yale students with meaningful grassroots volunteer opportunities, including legislative advocacy, canvassing, storytelling, and engaging with the HCAP program at Planned Parenthood. We strive to engage in open and respectful conversations at Yale and in the greater New Haven community to challenge stigma misconceptions around reproductive health, rights, and access. Whether through participating in the Generation Action internship or delivering testimony on state legislation, we will be able to amplify youth voices in accordance with the mission of Planned Parenthood. In doing so, PP@Y seeks to create a community equipped to fight for reproductive rights through the lens of reproductive justice. PP@Y is committed to working closely with local Planned Parenthood chapters, leveraging their expertise and resources to amplify our impact across campus and in New Haven.
