Returning Student Organizations: Student organizations must re-register annually.  Organizations who miss the deadline will not have access to campus resources that include university funding and spaces. Re-registration for the 2023-2024 academic year will open Sunday, July 16 and close Sunday, August 27.

*Please Note: Registration will only be open in fall, not the spring, so groups should be sure to get their registration in on time.

Forming New Student Organizations: Students wishing to form new student organizations, or revive dormant organizations, must submit an Intent to Register through Yale Connect. This year, applications to register a new organization will only be reviewed in Spring 2024. Applications to register a new organization will open Sunday, November 26 and close Sunday, December 31.

The Onboarding Process

Prior to beginning the onboarding process, new organizations are required to fill out a new organization Intent to Register Application.
This year, the application is open from November 26 to December 31. All Intent to Register Applications must be approved by the SORC committee. Once approved, onboarding begins!

1: New Organization Training

After the intent to register application has been approved, your org must complete New Organization Training, a meeting where at least one officer must attend. Training is typically with your specific SOC and may or may not include other onboarding organization leaders as well. In this training, you will learn more about the onboarding process and get a chance to meet your new SOC.

2: Benchmarking Meetings

As a requirement of their onboarding year, new organizations confer with their SOC at least three times. These benchmarking meetings are a great chance to prepare yourself for running an organization and to think through all the necessary steps in order to be successful. Each meeting has pre-assigned topics, it's best if you think through each topic with your organization officers in advance of the meeting and use the time with your as an opportunity to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, and work through any trouble spots you might encounter.

2: Final Approval

At the end of your organization's onboarding year, your group must have completed all benchmarks with your SOC and submitted a completed constitution and registration form to your Yale Connect portal. Your SOC will submit a final recommendation based on the completion of all benchmark requirements. The SOC subcommittee will then decide whether 1) the organization may become a fully recognized organization OR 2) the organization must complete one additional semester of onboarding OR 3) whether the organization must be again reviewed by, and potentially invited in for a conversation with, the larger SORC.
