Climate Action, High Finance, and You

with guest speaker Dr. Tim Baynes

on January 27, 2023, 12pm-1pm on Zoom and at the Yale Center for Industrial Ecology, 380 Edwards St.

The Theme

Why are the World's biggest investment companies and financial institutions paying as much attention to climate action as they are to climate impacts?

Dr. Tim Baynes will talk about some of the recent changes in international standards and corporate governance that will influence trillions of dollars in investment and spending, how this may influence the 'high street' as much as 'Wall street', and how industrial ecologists are central to informing such a climate transition.

The Speaker

Dr. Tim Baynes spent 18 years with Australia's national research laboratory, the CSIRO, working on diverse topics across sustainability. He co-founded the Australian Industrial Ecology Virtual Laboratory in 2013, more recently co-founded its commercial arm, FootprintLab, and is also currently an Honorary Associate Professor at the Fenner School of Environment and Society at Australian National University. Tim also served as Secretary of the International Society for Industrial Ecology from 2018 to 2022.
