Use of Yale Name & Logos in Grad Organization Name & Websites

The Yale Trademark and Licensing office has finalized new guidelines for using the Yale name for student organization names and on student organization websites. Please review the info on their website.

If you are an existing registered grad organization using "Yale" in some form in your name, please review these guidelines and make any name change requests to us as needed. GSAS can make mid-year name changes upon request.

Yale Licensing also has guidelines prohibiting the use of the name "Yale" in websites not hosted at Yale (third party websites). Students groups and individuals are also prohibited from using the name "Yale" in any outside non-yale.edu email address (i.e., yalegroup@gmail.com).

All GSAS grad organizations will be reviewed under these Yale licensing guidelines when orgs seek to renew registration each Summer. Name changes will be required at that time if they do not already follow the guidelines for using the Yale name on websites and emails.
